COWBOY MOUTH

by Sam Shepard & Patti Smith

A site-specific production of the classic, semi-autobiographical one-act, set in 1971 at the Chelsea Hotel, where a pair of lovers have been holed up with a drum kit, a dead crow and their dreams for far too long. Written by Shepard and Smith in their early years, Cowboy Mouth is a portrait of two fantastic freaks who have fallen under one another's spell as they try to break into the heart of rock & roll. Put on two months after Shepard’s passing, this production was meant to pay tribute to the late playwright.

Recognized by The New Orleans Advocate's Brad Rhines as one of his “five top picks” for plays produced in 2017.

Presented in Room 300 of The Frenchmen Hotel
