The Trees tells the story of a brother and sister who literally take root in the earth and begin turning into trees. As news of this spectacle spreads, people from many walks of life converge on the park where they’ve taken root: sometimes, the visitors arrive out of curiosity, other times, an altruistic desire to help, and other times still, a sense of opportunism. Over the course of the next seven years, the siblings become pillars of an accidental and richly meaningful community.

The Trees intimately explores the ways in which a community is defined by the people who comprise it. It speaks to questions that New Orleanians grapple with everyday: what brought us here, what inspires us to remain here, and how might this place transform over time?
